Kameron Haban...Goodbye, old friend....

We are going to Sierra Vista this weekend to go to a funeral for an old friend and neighbor of mine from when I went to college. He had a hard battle with Lupus and left behind his sweet wife and 2 1/2 year old boy. A friend of the family has put together a fundraiser for them to help pay for his medical bills and funeral services. If you care to help out this sweet family, please do so. You can make a donation to any Bank of America to Jamilyn Haban for the benefit of Kameron Haban. You can also send a donation through PayPal. If you are interested, please visit this website, http://habanfundraiser.blogspot.com/.

The last picture with Kameron and his son, Kason.

Holy grapefruit! And other randomness...

Kylann has been working for Essential Pest Management for about three weeks now. It's not his favorite job at all, but it pays the bills. He is having to pull 12+ hour days to make up for what the old technician didn't do. When he has a job he usually does his hardest work. I don't think they quite realize just how hard he works, but they know he's doing a lot better job than the last guy. Anyway, one of the houses that he treated, had a grapefruit and lemon tree in his backyard. He told Kylann that he is welcome to take as much as he wants. The guy could no longer eat citrus due to a heart medication he was on. So Kylann took home a bag of grapefruit (which he LOVES). I just had to take a picture of one of the ones he picked out. Holy cow! I've never seen a grapefruit this big!! The pictures really don't do it justice, but here it is!

Chase wanted to hold it SO bad!

So I finally let him for a second. Just so I could take the picture.

The other day Chase wanted to go outside and play in the backyard. There's nothing really out there, but dirt and misc tools and such. But for some reason he always has a blast!! Well it actually started raining while he was out there. I decided to just let him play. What's the rain gonna do. Well, it started to pour pretty hard and he's just playing away, doesn't even bother him at all! Little stinker. Finally I decided I wanted him to come in because he was getting a bit cold, plus he was getting really dirty and I didn't want him to track mud through the house. He did NOT like that idea. I probably should have just left him out there.

I decided that with this pregnancy I wanted to take a picture of myself every month. I asked Kylann to do it awhile ago and I just kept forgetting to remind him so I decided to just take one of myself. Turned out OK I guess. Looks a little weird because I couldn't get the brightness or coloring right. So I just brightened up the background until it faded. I am 10 weeks along here. I still can't believe I'm already showing a bit. I guess since my belly was already stretched out so it didn't take too long.

Penrod Look-Alike-Meter

MyHeritage: Look-alike Meter - Family photos - Geneology

Another Penrod??

I am pretty bored right about now so I thought I would update my blog. Plus it's been quite a few weeks since I've added anything. I should also announce that we are expecting Baby Penrod #2. A lot sooner than planned, but not a whole lot we can do about it now. :o) No, but we're excited and nervous at the same time. We're nervous because we're not really sure how we are going to afford another child at this stage in our lives. As it stands, we still have not heard a word from the Border Patrol. It's been over 8 months of waiting and over a month of waiting from the time he took his Polygraph Test(which was the the last step before they accept or deny him in the Academy). And I'M nervous because I'm not sure if I can handle another child right now with how high energy and needy Chase is. I have a feeling he is going to be VERY jealous of this new baby. I just hope he calms down a bit by the time he/she comes. It will be fun to see how reacts. I'm not sure if I'm looking forward to months of sleepless nights again, (Chase woke 3 times a night until he was 10 1/2 months old) but maybe we'll get lucky with a child who will actually sleep at night! Haha! I know, wishful thinking. My due date is March 23rd. So I'm about 8 weeks along.

Chase is doing well. He's very healthy and LOVES his fruits and vegetables. Literally, he's almost obsessed with them! I love that he actually eats them...devours them sometimes...but because he loves them so much he very rarely eats the main course. A lot of times I have to try and feed him the main dish before I put any veggies on his tray. Sometimes I end up giving him oatmeal just to fill him up on something. No wonder this kid is so skinny! I just hope he doesn't turn into a Vegetarian. No offense to anyone that is. I just feel that our bodies need meat in order to live well. I know growing babies definitely need that protein.

He loves to watch us cook. The other day he got a hold of my Camelback cup and started tipping it into a pan and making a spraying sound. Then he would take a wooden spoon or a spatula...or whatever cooking utensil he has gotten his hands on...and start mixing. It's so funny to watch him. He is really turning into a little man!

He doesn't say too many noticable words yet. He can jabber on and on sometimes, but no actual words. He says dada, mama and ow. I'm a little worried about it. The doctor says that he wants him to be saying at least 10 words by his next appointment. Which will be in two months. I somehow don't think that's going to happen. He does however know some signs. He knows, all gone, more, more please, please and thank you. He also understands just about everything we say to him. Should I be worried about his vocabulary? Should I try and work with him more each day? When did your kids start saying actual words?
